ep:05 Merie Burton is living in the liminal

Mike Ross

My guest on in between this week is my own personal therapist, Merie Burton.

She has played an instrumental role in my mental, spiritual, and emotional growth over the past 3.5 years, and I’m so excited to share her wisdom with you.

Traveling through liminal space is a difficult, yet rewarding and beautiful journey — and through my own experiences I’ve discovered what it means to truly live authentically and make heart-led decisions for myself; not based on anyone else’s standards or requirements. Merie has taught me so much about how to live in liminal spaces, or life’s in betweens; my conversations with her about this topic inspired this podcast.

Merie and I discuss her own personal experiences with liminal space, and how we often find ourselves living in paradox, when two seemingly opposite things appear to be true — feeling angry or afraid and finding joy and beauty in suffering.

This is a POWERFUL must-listen episode and one of my favorite interviews so far.

In this episode you’ll learn —

  • the definition of liminal space and how we as humans find ourselves in these spaces

  • the choice we all have when it comes to remaining in a comfortable space that we know, or stepping into the unknown

  • how to embrace paradox in your life

  • how the ability to sit in liminal space allows you to experience a deep, meaningful life
