ep:07 Haruka Aoki is pausing, and trusting

Haruka Aoki

“I have dreams to be a superstar grandma DJ.”

I met my guest this week, Haruka Aoki, back in January through a creative leadership program called Ignite, and from her first introduction as a future DJ grandma rockstar, I knew she was someone I wanted to be friends with.

Haruka and I have had front row seats to each other’s personal and creative journeys throughout this year. I know her as a friend, coaching client, and as someone who has a way of giving thoughts and emotions clarity by drawing beautiful comparisons from the natural world.

I watched as Haruka began pursuing her dream of opening an eco retreat in Portugal, took time to pause and trust herself in the midst of a mentally and emotionally draining year, and during our 1:1 coaching sessions decided to launch a snail mail stationery company.

In this episode Haruka and I talk about —

  • pausing to notice the beauty in our everyday world

  • learning how to trust yourself

  • the value of investing in yourself and your creative work

ABOUT HARUKA
Haruka Aoki is the founder of Snoring Snail, a snail mail stationery company that encourages slowness, contemplation, and self-expression. She finds inspiration from the wisdom of nature and the magical interconnections between sentient beings. While working as an art director and illustrator in New York City, she is planting seeds to build an artist residency and guesthouse in Portugal. In her previous life, she was a British man who enjoyed the quiet company of his Scottish terriers by the fireplace, and a few centuries before that, she was a paint mixer who loved to get lost in the quiet stirring of rich, dark paints.
