ep:12 Pearly Tasker is creating through anxiety.

Pearly Tasker

This week I’m delighted to talk to the bright and bubbly Pearly Tasker.

Pearly weaves together the threads of her life’s experiences and loves; she’s a talented cake artist (featured on the 2nd season of Zumbo's Just Desserts); toy inventor and children’s book creator; anxiety and mental health advocate.

In 2017, Pearly’s struggle with depression and anxiety led her to make big changes in her life. She practiced mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy and learned to reroute the pathways in her brain. Pearly decided to transition out of her career as a flight attendant into full-time creative work; pursuing her passion for baking and cake decorating.

Pearly uses this creative passion to share her story and normalise conversations about mental health and anxiety.

This is an empowering, colorful conversation that says you can be creative and energetic and pursue your dreams, AND at the same time — live with anxiety and manage your mental health.

Your struggles don’t have to define you or hold you back from chasing the dreams in your heart and being wholly you.

In this episode Pearly and I talk about —

  • How her childhood creativity has come full circle with her creative pursuits as an adult

  • Her path into entrepreneurship, from flight attendant to baker and toy maker and children’s book creator

  • How she learned to manage her anxiety through a practice of vulnerability and self-love

  • The powerful, practical habit she formed to reroute unhealthy, negative mental pathways

  • How she melded her authentic experiences, passions, and skills together to design her purpose

  • Managing multiple creative interests and pursuits in a way that’s authentic and sustainable
