ep:15 Heather Ashley Baker is dreaming.

Nicola Newman

As I write this, I’m sitting in the Townsville Airport, after spending 10 days in Far North Queensland.

I’ve been staring at a blank Google doc for awhile now, searching for words, while tropical rain beats against the window pane in front of me and the Bridgerton soundtrack plays in my ears.

I’m releasing two solo podcast episodes this week — in part because well, frankly, I was on holiday last week and wasn’t able to get one out, and also because these two episodes go together.

While I recorded these before I left on holiday, I hadn’t completed production on them, which basically means writing the description and show notes that I share with each episode.

Which leads me to staring at a blank Google doc in the Townsville airport on a rainy day, pondering words to describe what I talk about in these two episodes — about dreaming, and the doing that actually makes those dreams happen.

And while I ponder what to write, I’m thinking about my own dreams and my own doing.

These last 10 days gave me the first real opportunity after the grueling COVID lockdown last year to get out and explore, adventure, and reconnect with myself and my dreams.

I’m feeling more alive with possibility than I have in a very long time.

In this episode, I reflect on the path I’ve followed chasing my dream of starting my own business and expressing my creativity outside the traditional box of a 9-5 job. I share about the various milestones and moments along the way that led me to where I am in my life and my business today.

I hope that my story encourages you to think about how you can go from dreaming to doing in your own life x

ABOUT HEATHER

I’m a lifelong dreamer, curious creative, and action-taker, as my unconventional path shows: I’ve performed, directed high school theatre, changed careers 4 times, and am a Minnesota girl creating a brave new life in Australia amidst this in between season called 30-something. Fresh from a 12 year career in graphic and user experience design, I started my online business after losing my job during the pandemic in 2020. I love connecting through conversation and community — through my this podcast, and with other heart-led creatives like you.
